My name is Diego Parrilla, partner and VP of Product Management in Abiquo. This means that I am one of the main ‘perpetrators’ of the Abiquo Cloud Computing platform. I am with Abiquo since we re-focus the company from Grid Computing to the Cloud , and I have been involved in all the parts of product: from product strategy to MAVEN scripts.
I am Bachelor in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and I have quite a few years of IT & Communications experience in various positions: Professional Services Manager, IT Manager and Technical Lead. I am also a partner in another firm to build IT infrastructure software worldwide M2M (Machine-to-Machine) and Distributed Computing. I have worked in different environments such as telecom, manufacturing and government.
This blog was born out of an email and a telephone conversation with the Business Development Manager at Amazon Web Services for Europe. He asked me how he saw the picture of Cloud Computing in Spain, and especially what blogs and online publications consulted. My answer was … Spanish-language blogs of Cloud Computing? There’s no such a thing. At that point I decided I should write a blog that selected stories that seem interesting to me, give my opinion about it and above all be regular in writing articles. Nubeblog was born, on October 1, 2008.
I wanted to be with this blog an active member and evangelize about Cloud Computing in Spanish. Almost certainly you will find me on Cloud Computing events taking place in Spain, whether as listener or speaker.
Time passes, and evangelizing people about Cloud Computing has become a little outdated, since everyone knows what it is more or less. I was wondering if moving from Cloud Evangelist to Cloud Guru or Cloud Ninja, but the truth is that I’m too old to go dressed in black jumping through the Clouds. Now when I go to events or meetings and I say I have a blog about Cloud Computing, the people say, “Ah, you’re Nubeblog.” So having a blog on cloud computing I became Mr. Nubeblog. And this is what the blog is right now, the blog of Diego Parrilla, aka ”Nubeblog.”
